Classic Car Blocks

Well, it's summer and the car & truck show scene is in full swing. For August, there are National shows in Spokane, WA; Pleasanton, CA; Louisville, KY; Carlisle, PA; Brainerd, MN . . . to name a few.

It's not often that we see a classic car quilt block. For auto enthusiasts, I've linked some cute and challenging blocks, seen on various blogs - please see below:

Snow Globe Applique Pillows by The Sewing Loft, with instructions for a Woodie, Buggy and Trek.

C is for CAR - From Lori Holt's Spelling Bee Sew Along:

A VW Moment featuring "Coastal Cruiser" - a VW "bus" by Needled Mom. The Free PDF Pattern is available at Tula Pink's website.

If you're up for the challenge of quilting with a car theme, have a look at the In Box Jaunt (Lori Kennedy) and follow along at The Race Car - A Free Motion Quilt Tutorial.

Embroidery Library provided the inspiration for Southern Quilter's father-in-law's Antique Car Lover's Quilt.

And, here are a couple of quilts for lucky recipients:

Car Quilts for Phyllis Stewart's husband.

Route 66:

Seen at the Cameo Quilter's Guild Quilt Show - an embroidered Route 66 quilt by Kathy Debein.

And, if piecing a block for a quilt isn't enough of a challenge, check out these Quilted Ideas for your personal set of wheels.
