One Monthly Goal - June 2017

I have been thinking of a friend and want to make her a tiny keepsake. She has a multi-level house and I've been looking at the pewter house paperweight on my bookshelf and wondering how to incorporate it into something quilted.

A house without books is like a room without windows.

When I received an email notification from the Reno Sew & Quilt Expo (June 22-24, 2017) and saw their American Made Brand Tiny Quilt Challenge listing, I knew this would be the perfect inspiration for my next Main Street Quilts: OMG project.

Special thanks to "Quilting in the Country" by Naida Koraly - her tiny quilted masterpiece (pictured at the right) is bright and colorful.

From the program:

It’s fun! And tiny! Constructed entirely of American Made Brand cotton solids, these quilts may be tiny but their impact is mighty. Clearly size is no constraint on creativity and artistry! The key requirements of the challenge were to use American Made Brand cotton solids in a quilt no larger than 15” x 15”.

I will be sorting through blue fabrics (my friend's favorite color) to create the house. And, will need to pull some deep reds for the Dwarf Bottlebrush and then some periwinkle fabrics for the splash of Ceanothus in her yard.

My goal is to piece the entire tiny quilt in June. If time permits, I will begin quilting, too.

Now it is your turn to link up - what is your goal for June?

(A goal could be to finish a quilt but it could also be to attach a binding. Whatever it takes to help you move forward and make progress on your projects! And as long as the project involves a needle and/or fabric, you can link up!)

What tiny treasure do you have sitting on the shelf that might inspire you to get creative?

Your gift to your friend sounds like it will be fun to make. Good luck with the work. Helen Anne 6.11.2017

I'm enjoying the creativity on this project, Helen Anne. I just stopped by my friend's house and saw her magnolia tree in bloom - so, I'll need to add the tree and some white blooms, too.

What a fun quilt project. your friend will surely love this! What I really love is the detail. So much to look at and so many ways to use up scraps. Jennifer 6.5.2017

Yes, it will be small and I'm hoping to use several scraps. I may use other colors but I'm thinking that blues will be predominately displayed.

This will be incredible - can't wait to see what you make. Thanks for linking up with Elm Street Quilts One Monthly Goal and good luck on your project. Patty 6.5.2017

Receiving the notification for the Reno Sew & Quilt show was perfect timing. I'm so glad they shared the photo of Naida Koraly's tiny quilt.
